Dogs are a man’s best friend. They’re also quite stylish! Now, you may not think your dog needs to be styled, but it turns out that there are lots of ways to spruce up your pup with just a little creativity.

Dog styling is essential in making sure your dog looks stunning at all times.

Struggling for ideas? Here are some helpful dog style tips for you and your furry companion:

1) Make sure they have the right haircut

If you want an easy way to make your dog look more fashionable, then get them the right haircut. The wrong cut can do more harm than good by making them look shaggy or too short. That doesn’t mean every breed has the same type of hair though- some require shorter cuts while others need longer ones to look their best.

If you want to try styling your dog’s hair, then take them to the groomers where they will take care of everything for you. However, if you’re looking for a more personal look, then why not try doing it yourself at home? If you’re not sure how to style your dog’s hair, then check out some tutorials online.

2) Keep their tails looking fluffy

The tail is an important part of your dog’s body, so you want to make sure it’s looking as good as it can be. You might not think much about styling your dog’s tail other than combing out any knots, but this area should still be kept clean and neat.

Once a month, you should wash the tail and give it a little trim to keep it looking fluffy. Of course, you shouldn’t go too short on your dog’s tail- they prefer to have their tails long so they can wag them more easily.

3) Let them enjoy clothes

Who says clothes are just for humans? There are plenty of dog clothes that can make your pup look more fashionable. You don’t need to keep things boring with just plain old shirts and pants either- you can dress up your dog in all sorts of fun outfits.

If they’re not used to wearing clothes, then you may want to begin training when they’re puppies so it’s easier when they get older. Even if your dog doesn’t like wearing clothes right away, there comes a time when every dog needs some type of clothing for their protection during cold weather or simply because they love the outfit you picked out for them!

4) Pick out the perfect name tag

A good way to make sure your dog is always safe is to make sure they have a personalized name tag on their collar at all times. Dogs need to have their name and information on them so they can be returned if they get lost.

Sometimes your dog might need a new tag because the old one gets too faded or it has become unreadable over time. Not only that, but you should replace tags once in a while just for fresh new ones- the longer you keep the same tag, the higher chance there is of someone else picking up your pup because it looks familiar to them!

5) Pay attention to accessories

If your dog doesn’t need clothes, then perhaps a stylish accessory would do well? There are all sorts of different things that can add flair to your dog’s look such as bows, bandanas, belts, and collars. If you want to keep things simple and classic, then a bandana is always a great option because it can go well with any outfit.

For dogs that don’t like wearing clothes or accessories, there are still options such as leashes and collars for you to choose from. Of course, these aren’t stylish options but they’re necessary if you want your dog to have the right equipment for going on walks or going out in public.

6) Be mindful of funny accessories

You might be tempted to pick up all sorts of cute accessories for your dog- after all, who doesn’t love dressing their dog up? But make sure you don’t get anything too strange or weird since this could hurt your pup’s feelings.

You might think that your dog would enjoy wearing funny accessories, but they could also be ashamed or embarrassed by what you’ve chosen. This is especially true for certain types of accessories such as fake mustaches- not every dog will appreciate this kind of accessory!

7) Clip their nails

Nails are another part of your dog’s body that should always look good since it helps them walk properly and protect themselves from injury. If their toenails are too long, then it can damage them because they could catch on to things, get caught in objects, etc. making them rip out the toenails which will hurt them a lot more than having short nails.

8) Trim their fur so it looks neat

Your dog’s fur should always look great because it makes them look even better than they already do. If there are any knots or tangles then you’ll want to brush them out so they don’t get tangled up further down the line.

Other than that, your dog just needs to be brushed regularly so their fur doesn’t become too matted and unkempt. Of course, different breeds of dogs have different types of coats which means some may need more or less brushing than others- but no dog is ever so dirty that they need a bath right away!

9) Bathe your dog

If your dog does happen to be especially dirty one day (or if their breed typically gets dirty easily), then consider bathing them once in a while. It’s up to you how often you bathe them since some breeds will become irritated and upset if they’re given one too often- but this usually happens to dogs that get very dirty or have long hair rather than short hair.

10) Keep their nails trimmed

Along the same lines as clipping your dog’s toenails, it’s also important that you take care of their nails so they don’t get too long and potentially break. This leads to a lot of bleeding for your dog, so make sure you know what you’re doing before trimming their nails!
